Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Mexico, May 13 (Notimex).- The State Civil Protection System informed that at least 32 tons of waste are removed from the National Park Sumidero Canyon every day, which cleaning tasks are carried out 365 days a year.

The agency said in a statement that this touristic center is completely clean, since there are four cleaning machines operating on the Grijalva River.

It stated that more than one thousand tons of waste like wood, tree branches and rubble as well as a small percentage of PET have been recollected.

It noted that the Sumidero Canyon is considered one of the most important touristic places over the world and it is visited by thousands of tourists every year.

Therefore, it is essential that the cleaning tasks are carried out every day, in order to guarantee a clean landscape for the visitors, stressed the agency on a statement.

Civil Protection urged people not to throw garbage on the streets in order to prevent it from entering the rivers.
