Chiapa de Corzo, Mexico, Jun. 6 (Notimex) .- More than 80 students from the Faculty of Architecture under the Autonomous University of Chiapas (UNACH, for its acronym in Spanish) built the first stage of la Casa del Abuelo "Luz y Esperanza" (care center) with reusable materials from brickyards.

In a statement, the UNACH said that students and university officials delivered this space to Integralia A.C. Foundation, which provided the financial resources for the construction.

The statement also said that the construction of this 46 square meters work required material from the brickyards located in the municipality as well as wooden parts used in works at Tuxtla Gutierrez.

Students from the seventh semester of the Architecture major led the project called Reusing Brick Context (TRC, for its acronym in Spanish)

Wood in good condition was also used as part of this construction, which was used as formwork in a private work at the capital.

The statement stressed that this work, which will continue in the following months, aims to provide care for 200 elderly persons and 100 children in vulnerable situations.

In this sense, the project advisor and professor from the UNACH, Manuel Lopez Hidalgo, said that this activity promotes the integral formation of young people, since they have been involved in the construction; they know the social impact it can have.

In turn, Antonio Nivón Santiago, project consultant, stressed the importance of university students to be part of activities that expand their expectations, replying thereto issues approached in the Academic Project 2014-2018.
